Bonfiglioli Engineering started in 1974 by the hands of Giuseppe Bonfiglioli. Through a series of important intuitions he ingeniously worked in solving mechanical problems which were posed to him.
The inventive capability, the resilience in obtaining the proper objectives, and his human qualities which distinguish him still today, blended perfectly in developing an automation company with a strong inclination to technological Know-How and a constant will for improvement. This necessity has been always applied not only to the systems built, but also to the interpersonal relations with all collaborators in order to create a strong team for the work required.
Having said this, since then the company has been modelled to propose itself as Leader in the control of microleaks for plastic and met ...al containers of any shape and size.

1975 First applications in the plastic field
At the start of the companys activity products such as transport conveyors, de-fl ashing machines, robots, silos for containing and distrubuting containers, welded structures for blow moulding machines, were produced.

Giuseppe Bonfiglioli: Time to make the testing machine
Operating in the plastic fi eld extreme criticalities had been noticed in the
production of containers. In fact a considerable quantity of rejects were being produced (leaking containers). At that point it has been thought to design and produce a machine which at that point was missing in the market. The first machine designed used washing-machine transducers and was proposed to blow moulders of plastic containers. Initially it was quite difficult to transfer the need for this control to the possible clients, but slowly with time, the market which was being addressed understood the need and started investing in these automatic control system. Successively this same machine was proposed not only to blow moulders but also to the manufacturers of blow moulding machines. Machines at low speed with a maximum up to 1000/hour.

1980 First rotary machine
Increasing the field of application, the first to be targeted were the automatic fi lling lines, where there was the need to leak test empty containers at a speed of over 15.000 per hour. At that time, our machines where
driven pneumatically. However this choice of system required quite a high impact in planned maintenance and that the rotation of machine had to be
fi xed at the same speed ...

1985 The Metallic Field
It was decided to grow and cover other types of containers, both in shape and material. Th e fi rst obvious choice was that of the metallic container. Th e fi rst applications where addressed to GENERAL LINE containers and for the fi rst time mechanical motorisation was used. The mechanical motorisation was achieved by using a closed cam system,thus avoiding the problems of extensive maintenance in the previous machines. Th is was followed by applying this application on all types of metallic containers.

1988 The Pharma and Food Fields
During this year patents had been registered for the leak test of filled and sealed containers. Thereafter the first systems were sold in the pharmaceutical field, which inherited the rotary testing technology of the other fields.

1990 The new establishment
In this period of high development, the new investments were also planned. A first necessity was satisfi ed! The purchase of two of the 4 wings of a new building under construction in Vigarano Pieve.

of the remaining fourth wing which has been just concluded, summing up a total area of 3000 sqr meters.

1993 Use of the first dedicated Work Station
In these years the fi rst software was developed for the management of manuals,
maintenance, production data and machine running. This was designed with the
possibility of assistance via telephone line.

1996 Testing of Easy Open End
From a request received the fi rst EOE machine was developed, testing EASY OPEN
ENDS and working with a double cam system, elbow locking device and at a speed of 700 pieces/minute. Presently, with the experience matured in these years wilst working in this application, we have supplied all the rotary testing machines present in the peel-off market.

1998 Malta Office
Based on good international connections and the knowledge of English, Bonfi glioli Trading was established in Malta in order to dedicate a sales force to cover all countries outside the European and Mediterranean areas

2000 Evolution into the Pharmaceutical field
In this period the immediate needs of the Pharmaceutical fi eld were studied. The capability to react to the requirements received provoked a high investment push in the production of a new series of automatic machines dedicated to test all pharmaceutical applications (ampoules, vials, bfs, blister), for both laboratory and on-line testing.
This was the right occasion for the high level development of both the software and the mechanical systems according to the GMP guidelines. Read more
