Pharmathen Pharmaceuticals, located in Athens, Greece, was founded in 1969 as a private pharmaceutical company, and is focused on developing and marketing health care products, with a strong position in generics. Its 350 employees are involved in R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, and sales & marketing of pharmaceuticals. With a long history of development and manufacturing of generic products, Pharmathen has emerged as one of the largest generic development companies in Europe. Pharmathen has a development pipeline of ten generic molecules every year, supported by two advanced laboratories and with more than 75 research and development personnel.
Today, the in-house development products of Pharmathen are registered in all major EU markets and licensed out to the la ...rgest pharmaceutical companies in Europe, Canada, Australia, South Africa and the United States. Our competitive edge is characterized by cost efficient development and production, creative marketing and added value customer service. Pharmathen through strategic partnerships has expanded its international activities to over 65 countries with more than 900 Marketing Authorizations worldwide, creating strong partnerships with all major companies. In addition, Pharmathen is able, after the recent establishment of its own facilities of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), to provide a complete backwardly integrated service to its clients, from the synthesis of the API, to the formulation and finally to the production of the finished product.
Furthermore, Pharmathen inaugurated the construction of a third manufacturing plant in Northern Greece. The new factory in combination with the two existing manufacturing units in Athens, will significantly strengthen Pharmathens production capabilities. This is a major investment and it is estimated to cover Pharmathens ever-increasing manufacturing needs for the following years.
